We have three primary objectives in education. First we want to eliminate the SBOE and devolve control of the schools to the local districts. Second, eliminate statewide standardized testing. Second, implement school choice to give students more options and make schools better through competition.

Gaming in Perspective

How can the state of Texas possibly justify not legalizing casino gambling where the odds are only slightly against the gambler, while permitting a state lottery and megamillions in which the odds against participants are millions to one?

Limited Government

The primary purpose of government is to protect the rights of individuals. As government grows larger it becomes less responsive to citizens and has less regard for their rights, placing the interests of government itself ahead of those of the people. The development of a permanent bureaucratic class and long tenures in political office are signs that a government has become separated from the will and interests of the people and needs to be reformed or replaced. Government must be reduced to its essential functions, focusing on limited but necessary services and the protection of individual liberty.

Personal Liberty

Under natural law every individual has the right to be free in their person and their property and to live and act as they choose so long as they do no harm to others. Harm by force or fraud must be prevented, but beyond that government has no legitimate authority to interfere in the lives of citizens. Government should not be a redistributor of wealth or an arbiter of morality. It should never act to impose the will of any group on other individuals or set any one individual or group above others with special privileges.

Economic Liberty

The right to hold property, trade it freely and enjoy the benefits of your labor are fundamental human rights. Government should protect these rights and should not excessively regulate trade, subsidize industries, favor one business or industry over another, restrict the right to work or to hire or fire workers or encourage the development of cartels or monopolies. Trade should be free within the nation and with foreign nations and economic development should take place in a free and open marketplace. Respecting economic liberty is the best way to assure prosperity in our nation.
